A VP That Cares About The Real You

The Republican VP candidate Sarah Pallin was recorded on video in her home church in Alaska earlier this year and some of her statements have some people a little upset. I will paraphrase one of her statements to shorten it without changing it's message. She basically said that she can (and does I might add) work hard as governor to get various things done to benefit the people of her state but none of it does any good if the people of Alaska don't get their hearts right with God.

You know what ? She is absolutely right ! Jesus said in Mark 8:36:" For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul ?"

As a leader she recognizes that she has a job to do in serving the people but her hearts cry is for those people to come into right relationship with God.

Some people think it just terrible that she , a politician, would honestly care about our souls and not just our physical lives. She can't help it . She's a genuine Christian and genuine Christians care about the souls of people because the soul is the real you that has an eternal destiny.
Seems a bit strange that anyone would be offended by such caring. Especially other professing Christians!

I agree and certainly hope McCain and her win the next election! She sounds like a unique politician which I think is good. I just hope if she does get elected that she won't find herself in over her head. I guess I'm even more leery about elections than ever since I read "The Appeal" by John Grisham.

as a her being a good christian, i could certainly see caring about the souls of others as a desirable trait. as an elected official, she needs to check that shit at the door - the government should have no business whether you go to hell or not, because if they begin concerning themselves with this it's only a matter of time before freedom of religion is revoked.

i don't dislike mccain/palin any more than obama/biden (although biden is certainly entertaining to watch in public speeches), i just can't stand christians who think it's the government's job to make sure we're all good christians - go back and read your constitution/bill of rights please.

RE: Fwaggie : Hey , calm down. Neither Pallin or I suggested that it's the governments job to make sure you're a "good christian" read the post a little more carefully. The point was that she does her job as a governor with the heart of someone who cares for the people. The statement was made in her home church to graduating Christian students who she challenged to reach out to people with the gospel of Christ and be lights for Him where ever God leads them. She commissioned them to do that while she does her job as governor. Then she made the statement which I paraphrased in the post. To sum up: She told the students. Go out there and reach people for Christ while I do my job as governor because even though I can do all these othe things for them it's their souls that matter the most. A good many people are taking her statements out of context and calling her some kind of "dangerous" religious "terrorist".
Hey, thanks for taking the time to comment!

right, but that was my point exactly... knowing where to draw the line between your responsibilities as an elected official and your responsibilities as a christian - many people in this country are of the opinion they're one and the same.

i'm calm by the way, i don't consider her a religious nut. i disagree with her stance on abortion, but then again i disagree with most people's stances on abortion - i think it's a great emergency family planning method, but it should only be used in emergencies. "crap i got drunk and now look where we are" doesn't really count, and anyone who goes in for more than 3 abortions should be sterilized in my opinion... it's not a form of contraception. i don't agree with abortions after the first trimester either, because those are typically the ones you read about when someone describes the "gruesome" act of abortion.

as for the notion that life begins at conception and therefore it shouldn't be aborted, heck it's only a hop skip and a jump to go from that to banning contraception, ala the catholic religion.

i've been asking for a while, and i've yet to see anyone give me a secular reason that abortion should be outlawed. as i've stated before on my own blog, i'm not just attacking the right - i absolutely can't fathom the common left-held position on capital punishment.

call me a pessimist, but i'm apathetic about this november. i'm not particularly against any of the nominees, but i'm equally unimpressed with all of them.

I'm glad someone who experienced the Iraq war first hand has come to speak up for the sacrifices of our men and women and for the Iraqi people. Loved the video. Thanks for sharing.

I do not question Gov. Palin's faith or commitment to Jesus Christ as her personal savior. Our relationship with God should be at the core of all our thinking and doing.

My concern with Gov. Palin is different. I just cannot trust her. She campaigns about being against Government earmarks, yet when she was mayor, she employed a lobbyist to go to Washington and seek these earmarks.

She campaigns about being against the bridge to nowhere. Yet she supported it initially, and only came out against it after it was already dead in Congress and she could find a way to divert the funds to other projects in Alaska.

My mind goes back the the verse, "Ye shall know them by their fruits" and I find I must seek discernment about whether or not I believe Gov. Palin has and will provide the sort of leadership that God calls us to. So far, I'm very dubious.

you may have other issues you're concerned about. But I think you got the point of this particular post. Thanks for your comment !

in the editorial that I am sending out to the local papers here in Wisconsin, I have said that no candidate who is running for office will be able to change the tide of devestaion our nation is facing. It will take all of us to repent and turn to the Lord in order to see the kind of changes we all long for...freedoms which are at stake.
