Righteousness Exalts a Nation.....

In the Bible it says : "Righteousness exalts a nation, But sin is a disgrace to any people." Prov.14:34
In a paraphrase of that verse it says:"God-devotion makes a country strong; God-avoidance leaves people weak." I have certainly experienced this truth both ways in my personal life and I believe our nation has also. When we as a nation have humbled ourselves before God and turned from our own self-serving ways to honor Him and seek His righteousness, He has kept His word and brought blessing on us and we have been exalted as a nation. But when we have turned to our own way and avoided or ignored Him then we have grown weak and become disgraced. Now, as never before we need to be humbling ourselves before God, acknowledging our personal and corporate sins of commission and omission, turning our hearts completely back to Him through the one way that He has given to pardon us and bring us into right relationship with Himself. That way being the cross of Christ. There is yet room for mercy and healing both personally and nationally if we will do this but the day is getting shorter and He will not delay His coming forever.

It seems more and more our nation as a whole is turning from God which is really frightening to me.

This is a true statement and has been proven by the state of many nations in our world.
Here is poem that rings true in the same way:

If there is righteousness in the heart,
there will be beauty in the character.

If there is beauty in the character,
there will be harmony in the home.

If there is harmony in the home,
there will be order in the nation.

If there is order in the nation,
there will be peace in the world.... (anonymous)
