Some pollsters and spokespersons for the left/liberal elements of the democrats are now telling us that if Obama doesn't win it's because white people don't want a black man to be president. And apparently a lot of people on the left are making statements to the effect that if there are independents or even democrats who won't vote forObama it must be because they are racists. It's coming from all over the last few days. And they are accusing the McCain campaign of being racist because in one of their ads they happened to have 2 black faces,Obama and Franklin Raines, who we now know had a part in the bad handling of Fannie Mae and has been one of Obama's chief economic advisers after walking away with a fortune. That's just the tip of the ice berg. Many are now jumping on the racist bandwagon. If you don't vote for the black guy you must either be an "idiot" or you're a "racist". You can see it coming. They've got their big excuse all prepared in advance in the event thatObama doesn't win. Some people on the left are taking it even farther, saying that if he does win, he will probably be assassinated which kind of makes me think they are trying to make him into some kind of martyr now. Enough of this already !The people saying these things and the ones who believe it are the ones who are stirring up the tension between races in this country. they just can't let a man stand or fall on his own merit. It just has to be all about his race. Maybe it's their way of trying to guilt trip people into voting forObama . I hope you (whoever actually reads this) aren't planning on voting for a candidate because he is or isn't a certain skin color. God have mercy on us if that is now the way we choose our leaders.

Oh Brother, Here We Go !

Welcome to TheNightIsComing.com
The title of this blog is inspired by the words of Jesus to His disciples in the Book of John.
John 9:4 We need to be energetically at work for the One who sent me here, working while the sun shines. When night falls, the workday is over.
The posts here may cover many areas of life and many issues but it will always be the goal of this writer that in everything I will work for the One who sent me here while there is still time.
Jesus Is Returning ! Knowing that, how shall we now live ?

You know that racism will always come up whenever the race involves a black person. I really believe only a small minority of people actually would vote based on color. It's too bad people can't just see others as people rather than nationalities or race. It makes no sense!
Racists do exist. A couple days ago a Democrat told me she refuses to vote for Obama because he has a "black agenda." What is a "black agenda"? Does McCain have a "white agenda"?
Here in Mississippi, I've heard far worse. I chose this example not because it's so striking so much as because it's the "tempered" side of racial thinking--the side that rarely gets articulated, and even when it does, we ignore it more easily.
I'm sure those who panic about the effects of racism on this election have encountered people like that Democrat--and then made the mistake of associating that type of thinking with a significant percentage of the national population.
But I'm more concerned about those who say they refuse to vote for Obama because he's a Muslim extremist with ties to terrorism. The Port Everglades, FL labor unions refuse to get in line with the AFLCIO because they're convinced Obama is a Muslim threat to national security. I've even seen some write that he's an al Qaeda sleeper cell.
So the racial problems do exist, and enough that Democrats care to bring those Democrats back into the fold. But the situation is far more complicated than the accusation that all who refuse to vote for Obama is a racist. The people who make those claims are being as retarded as those who argue that Obama is a Muslim extremist with ties to terrorism.
Re: Karen and gray kane:
Thanks for the comments. Yes, I agree that racism/racial prejudice does exist in the US and probably most corners of the world. I've had my own experiences with it.
But after all the hoopla and the huge crowds for Obama and almost all of major media and Hollywood biggies supporting him, to hear the kind of statements that are being made from his side, it's almost like they're expecting it and in a strange way, turning even more voters off.
gray kane: saw one of your sites. It was eye opening to say the least.
I just pray that the people will vote for the one who fears the Lord, and true in his heart.
Gah! Why does it always have to turn into a racist thing? Could it be that people don't care for Obama because he doesn't have the experience? Because he is relatively young? Or simply even because he is democrat? Why does it ALWAYS have to turn into a black vs. white thing?
Personally... I don't care if our next president is purple as long as he does a good job.
Hmmm, or maybe it's because of all the polls they have done which people have said "I wouldn't vote for a black person for president."
re:modernmommy
Yes, if you read the first sentence of the post you will see that I give credit to some pollsters for adding fuel to this story. The accuracy of polls in representing the truth is often way off, as past primaries and elections have shown. That said, it is still no reason for political spokespersons/personalities to grab on to that and make these kind of outrageous statements. To say that if he loses that it's only because of his race ?
